Waste of Space

Bathroom selfie before the baptism

We put makeup all over our faces...hahaha we're hilarious!

Dearest Family,

Every time I sit to write an e-mail, I seriously feel that my week was just like last week, which was just like last week, which was just like every week for the last year or so. It is crazy! I know days differ and all, but essentially our purpose is the same, so I feel like I'm always doing the same old stuff, and it probably gets boring to read about it.

That being said, we had a great baptism this week.  I have included pictures of Dawn’s baptism.  Hurrah for Israel!!

Also, just to share the coolest part of the week. We've had consistent days with about three hours of straight finding, which is rough.   But we stopped a man named F-- and gave him a Book of Mormon and set up an appointment for 4:00 on Sunday. Now, 4:00 is such an awkward time that we couldn't find anyone to come with us and wouldn't be able to go in. We went by at 4:00 and in reality I think we expected that he wouldn't keep his appointment. Not so!

He opened up the door and said, "You're here! Come in!" and was so sad that we couldn't come in. He said he'd been waiting for us to come, because he was just glad we were real people instead of angels, as he thought we may have been. He said, "I've been reading your book, and I feel like I'm Lehi and his family, in the wilderness. I don't know anyone around." He has read up to chapter 10 since Thursday and has some questions for us. He has been wondering what the purpose of life is. He says he can't believe that we just happened to be walking by him on that street and that he thinks it's destiny.

It was the most incredible thing of my life. He is brilliant! I can't wait to teach him (we have an appointment set up for Tuesday, with a joint teach this time.)

"The Lord has declared that missionary work is the responsibility of all who follow Him (see Matthew 28:19–20; D&C 88:81). Members of the Lord's Church can, by the goodness of their lives and the strength of their testimonies, share the gospel message and help prepare family members, friends, and other acquaintances who are not Latter-day Saints to be taught by the full-time missionaries."

This work is not only good, it's true! And I love being a part of it!

Love,
Sister Ricks
