The Man Next to Santa Claus in Goodness

Dearest Family,

Have I told you recently how much I love our mission president? I absolutely love President Brown. He and his wife are two wonderful people, and I know I am in this mission partially to meet them and learn from them.

This week, after saying good-bye and having a few days with Sister Pugh, we went to the Mission Home. As we got outside, President Brown came up to me and said, "Sister Ricks, how are you?" I responded with a general, "I'm good, how are you?" to which he looked deeply at me and said, "Sister Ricks, how are you really?" He wasn't satisfied with the answer I'd given and wanted to know how my headaches were doing and how I was feeling.

Later in the day, he told me about something he drinks that helps his tense muscles called Tonic Water. He had me drink a bit and I liked it, so he gave me 4 bottles! As he was bringing it down, some elders asked him what it was for, and he said, "Oh, it's Sister Ricks's tonic water to go with her gin." :) I just love him. He's hilarious, and we have a great relationship.

Fast forward to Sunday when we got a text from President saying he would be in Kirkcaldy this week. I changed my skirt really fast because I got nervous that it might be too long and to my ankles. :) But the best part of the week by far was that I was able to share my testimony in Fast and Testimony Meeting in front of Sister and President Brown. What a privilege it was, and I felt the Spirit testify again to me that the things I was saying are and were true.

I got a picture with them in the parking lot outside. I remember President Morris blessing me that I would have a close relationship with them, and I finally feel that I do.

Training is going well. I love Sister Johnson, she's a sweetheart and we're getting along really well. There are always things that I can improve, and I'm learning, so that is just wonderful. I know I'm doing the Lord's work and what I'm meant to be doing, and I'm certainly blessed and grateful for that.

I love you all! Sorry this is so short, I lost track of time. :)

Love you,
Sister Ricks
